Session 6 – Cannabis meets Craft Beer: Preparing for the Upcoming Storm

Cannabis meets Craft Beer: Preparing for the Upcoming Storm

The Canadian cannabis industry is projected to grow tenfold or more by the end of the year, creating a new multi-billion dollar space.  But the fall of 2019 is a date everyone’s got their eyes on.  This is when cannabis beverages will be first allowed in Canada – and by the looks of things, beers infused with, brewed from, or otherwise involving cannabis will dominate the beverage category.  The world changed when U.S. based alcohol giant, Constellation Brands (brewers of Corona, Ballast Point, Negro Modelo and more) announced it was getting into the cannabis industry last year with a $245 Million investment to make infused beverages.  Medreleaf, one of Canada’s largest marijuana licensed producers launched an alcohol beer in 2017.  Others are getting into the industry.  The convergence is coming. Are you going to be ready?
In this session, Dooma Wendschuh will discuss how Canadian cannabis and beer companies are riding this growth wave and how the marijuana industry is on track not just to compete with craft brewers, but with the giants in the beer industry. This talk will focus on the practical steps you, as brewers, can take to enter the cannabis industry, or partner with cannabis growers.  Want to brew your own THC infused beers?  Want to help in distributing beer alternatives?  Want to make alcohol products which include cannabis in a legal way?   Whenever there is disruption there is always unprecedented opportunity.  Don’t let this pass you by.
